In this first version, the games are split into multiple rows and the player must complete minigames to collect keys. The keys are randomly distributed among the games, requiring one level for each key (e.g. a game with 2 keys has 2 levels to beat.) When enough keys are collected, the player can challenge the Video Virus and advance to the next row.
If a player loses all three lives in a game, he is ejected from it and must try again, using another token. Because of this, the player must decide whether to enter riskier games to gain keys more quickly, or to play it safe by spending more tokens on lower-level games with fewer keys.
